Janet Cardinal

“I came to the city when I was 17 and got a job at GWG. That building was half-a-block long and half-a-block wide. It was just amazing. They took me into this huge room and it was huge, and noisy, and of course I didn’t get a job right beside the door, I had a job way at the far end. I went in there and they put me at this machine and showed me what to do, you know, they give you instructions on how to operate the machine and they give you fabric to practice on. I did that, then the coffee bell rings, and I latched on to the girl that was beside me cause I didn’t think I would ever find my way back.”
